Where I was at on March Saturday March 9th

As several people are finding out , I was not at the Golden Gloves for the first 10 matches on Saturday March 9th.. Before I headed to Cicero Stadium that night I was at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park for the Annual fundraiser for the St. Baldricks Foundation hosted by John and Trish O'Sullivan. In regards to the St. Baldricks " Fight for Cure 2013" event , it was as it was in the past years, a amazing fun event.  ​ There was boxing, Head Shaving , buffet, music and open bar..it had it all.  Please consider making a donation to this Pediatric Cancer Research group..If you do let me know so I can discount any of your Tomba Golden Glove purchases.

Saturday night at the "gloves" ..

Among the 19 Great matches at Cicero Stadium on Pre- St. Pats party fight night at Cicero Stadium ​was one that stood out as a favorite of the fans.  I'm judging this by the roar of the crowd cheering and the number of people on their feet, that match was ;

Patriot Gym                              Gold Star Gym  ​

It was a hell of fight for both these guys ...Glad I was there..​

Friday night at the "gloves" March 15th 2013

Friday night had us watching 22 matches of the best of Chicago's amateur boxers ...All of them great in their own way  ...Here's one of the "knock's out" of the night .

Reason to visit the Chicago Golden Gloves

One of the perks of attending the Chicago Golden Gloves is ​getting the chance to "hang with" with some of the great Chicago Boxing Champions who have hung up their gloves but come to Cicero Stadium as coaches, corner men or just to be around the sport.  Not only past champions but current champions and the future champions that are fighting their way to the pro status.  Case in point, just the other night , I was with the WBA currently ranked #5 heavyweight in the world Fres "fast hands" Oquendo and 2013 Golden Gloves fighter Solomen Oquendo.  There's too many Chicago champions that visit to mention here ....Next fight night , Thursday March 14th ,,See you at the Cicero Stadium.
