Because next year we will be talking and asking "so when was it safe to walk on the lake in earlier 2016". and the answer is the past couple of days with the weather beingsingle digit, the first fisherman with a sled full of gear came walking by us on Tuesday (January 13th) morning. I believe a little early but at the same time , I saw a shanty and a four wheeler out on the ice (They are no longer there).
Today several sleds (snowmobiles) and four wheelers doing their thing, couple of fisherman in the bay across from us was out most of the day....Come sunset when I did these quick photo's it was pretty quiet out there but I did just hear a sled going all out just now.
