Sorry about the delay in posting , I have been learning how to juggle ..No, not bowling balls or chain saws or even juggling balls but life, digitial files and just things to do. I love all my clients and they are the best but sometimes I feel I spent all my time looking for files that are four years old and than I sell one 5 x7 print. ..and I truely appreciate all and every sale but it would be some nice in the sale was within 30 days of when it was captured.

Here's a few thoughts about "weight-in's" and why there are challenges in photographying them...If you ever photography a weight-in ..Remember;
* All fighters there are to weight-in and are focused only on that;
* Most fighters are going to be dehyrated, hungry and possibly weak but all are going to be concerned with making weight. If they do not make weight, they have an hour to do so;
* One fighter last week had one hour to lose five pounds and did so (for a total of 13 pounds for a 24 hour peroid) ...I can't even imagine myself doing that;

Why I thought about this posting as I was driving home that night, is I was wondering what the time was of fighter actually in front of camera was and I was going to check data and figure out the average. But alas , my dance card is to full and I must move on ..My guess is less than a minute with five poses. I was feeling pretty good about that till I remembered Yousuf Karsh's photograph of Winston Churchill was probably less than that ( OK and alot better then anything I have ever done)...a really lot better..

Its pretty amazing that the people in East Troy (me too) will talk about the wind today. I heard 70 MPH (what is that 60-65 knots) but I don't think so, maybe 40 MPH ..But right there's no damage around us that I know about. Of course, if there damage to our neighbors I will have them in my prayers.
But considering some areas of the world, of course, this was a mere inconvenance to me working in my office and looking out the window at the storm pasting by ..

Ok, its not so completely different than some of my other Photography gigs. But being a Monty Python fan back in the day, I always wanted to say that. Yesterday's "shoot" was like doing a Table Top session except the product was a little larger , well a lot larger ...acually REALLY REALLY LARGE...and it required a little more then normal effort to line up and pose correctly.
Anyway here's a few "quick picks" for the client that I send last night to get the 'ball rolling"
Also different was the studio lighting (the sun) was like a strobe on Acid and Steroids and yet another reference to the days of Monty Python...Of course, I helped the lighting along with three Q-flashes, all at full power. Would have liked a full stop but I probably was only getting a half stop on single truck images.
I should have some HDR images later in the week...Cheers

Recently, I talked about trying to find negatives from back in the days of Tomba's 4" x 5" negatives and Medium format film shooting. Today while cleaning up the basement work area / used to be print area and I did come across a binder of 4" x 5" and Mamiya neg's. Of course, I could have scanned some of those (probabely my better work) I also came across a CD with these files.
Taken in 2006 with probably my Mamiya RB( 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" Neg). I have no idea of who he is. The important thing to notice here is this is nothing special, I didn't enhance with CS5 or Nik Silver Efex or spend a hour fixing. OK, I did the edge but this as far as I remember this is camera neg scanned to CD ...Check out the contrast without me sitting in front of a computer for a hour.
All the photographer's that are in the "pipeline" looking for work/clients and have brought a decent digitial camera, are creative but have never used film ....OK, I am not sure how to finish that sentence that will come back and bite me, so you finish it with what works for you. Me, I am dusting off my Mamiya's..Do you know anyone who is selling a Deardorf 4" x 5" or 8 x 10" ?
